Protection

We all have this shot. Standing on the forest floor in dappled sunlight with our lens pointed upward through the canopy. This one in particular is meaningful to me, however, as I found myself here, newly orphaned, on the longest day of the year, within a protected biosphere reserve - not quite in the middle of nowhere, but rather on the very edge of it. I am surrounded by a family circle of ancient cedar trees - a Mother tree with a ring of descendants creating sacred space.
"I'm up for adoption," I whisper into the ferns.
"You already belong," comes the reply.
