The secret to having it all is knowing that you already do.
When I think about gratitude, I find myself bogged down with grand statements and sweeping platitudes. I can get lost in the big feelings that come with such a profound subject. Yet, I realize that true gratitude is often found in simple, everyday moments that sneak into our peripheral awareness.
There is a lot of noise fighting for our attention. We have the wonderful opportunity to choose how we focus our energy and cultivate our own version of paradise. But it isn't always easy.
These days, I read more poetry than headlines - savoring the beauty of words. Take more walks than risks - finding solace in the rhythm of my own footsteps. Strive to listen more than I speak - allowing other voices who may have made more headway into the idea of gratitude. I draw inspiration from Nature - which is already close to perfect.
Words fall short in expressing gratitude. Perhaps actions and creating art get closer to the truth of it.
