I have been lucky in life to receive some great advice. My grandmother always told me: Jeffrey, you can have it all - maybe just not all at once. Or this gem: You'd be surprised at how many things are perfect if you just change your idea of perfect.

My father was fond of saying: Be where your feet are. I don't think he made it up, but I can only hear it in his voice. It has a way of reminding me to inhabit a moment and stay present. When I am in nature, I hear him reminding me to let go of worry and stress, to breathe in my surroundings and experience the simple beauty of right now. For balance, I long for waterfalls and mountains - the reward at the end of a tough trail. Along the way, the trees absorb whatever weighs heavy on my mind. Trust me, they can take it.

It is such a gift to receive these extraordinary moments in everyday life. When you get them, breathe.

Open your eyes and your lungs.

Pay attention.

Be where your feet are.

Thanks, Dad.
